What if a laptop stops working right before or during an assessment?
Assessment invigilators will bring paper copies of assessments as a back-up.
If a laptop stops working right before an assessment begins, a student can complete the paper version of the assessment.
If a laptop stops working during an assessment, a student can switch over to a paper version of the assessment. Examplify logs a student’s responses as that person progresses through the assessment. Once a computer is again working after an assessment, ExamSoft can help to retrieve the partially completed assessment.
With the above-mentioned back-up options in mind, there are a couple troubleshooting strategies that resolve most issues.
In the case that a computer takes more than five minutes to open the assessment after entering the assessment password:
1. Press and hold the laptop’s power button to restart the computer; then open Examplify and try again.
2. Log out of Examplify; then log back in and try again.
3. If the issue persists, switch to a paper copy of the assessment and follow up afterwards with Jeremy Sandor
In the case that a computer takes more than ten minutes to resume normal functions between exiting the exam and uploading a student’s responses:
1. Press and hold the laptop’s power button to restart the computer; then open Examplify and select the assessment to upload the results.
2. If the issue persists, follow up with Jeremy Sandor
