  MAC ID's and passwords

MAC ID is a unique, common identifier enabling single sign-on for a number of McMaster systems and applications such as Mosiac, LibAccess and VPN.

All medportal users (students, staff (excluding Hamilton Health Sciences employees) and faculty) should have a MAC ID. If you don't have a MAC ID or forget your MAC ID and password please read the appropriate section below:

Students:

Your MAC ID is not your student number. All students should have received instruction on setting up their MAC ID when they received their Acknowledgement email from McMaster (not medportal). If you have not already done so, students can activate their MAC ID using their student number, student card barcode and birth date.

Faculty:

Faculty and staff can activate their MAC ID using their employee ID and date of birth. Your employee ID can be found on your ID badge or your payment statement. If you do not have a barcode enter your last name in the barcode field.

Visit this page if you are unsure what your MAC ID is or forget your password.

MAC ID Password Requirements:

MAC ID passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters in length and must contain 3 of these 4 elements (uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, or symbols). You cannot use any of your last 5 passwords and your password cannot contain your name.
